Members Maddy & Helen with the National Project Lead (Andrea Murray) and Past SIANZ President (Kristeen Johnston) discussing National Project plans.
All 19 clubs across Aotearoa New Zealand are encouraged to choose activities to achieve the aim of the National Project in whatever way they see fit!
The National Project Journey -
Back at the beginning of 2021, Rural Women NZ held a webinar on Ovarian Cancer as that was their National Project at the time.

A few Soroptimists watched the webinar and this sparked something!

A small group (the beginnings of our club) organised a Teal Ribbon Morning Tea & Quiz to raise money and awareness for Ovarian Cancer.

From there is continued as a cause we wanted to help!

SI Wellington nominated it as a National Project and in May 2022, this was voted in by the Soroptimists across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Podcast Series
Members Jess and Maddy started off the SI Chats Podcast with an Ovarian Cancer Series! We thought no better time to launch than Gynae Cancer Awareness Month!

Each episode is very informative and eye-opening.

We interviewed Jane Ludemann (Cure Our Ovarian Cancer NZ), Tash Crosby (Talk Peach), Pauline Blomfield (K9MD) and the wonderful Miracle Marsh!

Check them out!

Teal Ribbon Morning Teal & Quiz 2022
In May 2022, we held our second Teal Ribbon Morning Tea & Quiz.
We raised $1,900 for Cure Our Ovarian Cancer NZ and hopefully raised some awareness around this awful disease.

Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month 2022
For Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month - we decided to raise money for Talk Peach!

Will the help of SI Wellington we put together a 'Peach' themed raffle and sold tickets - 100% of which went to Talk Peach.

Together we raised $725!
For Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month - we also decided to host an event to raise money for Cure Our Ovarian Cancer NZ!

We decided to have a good old Bingo Night. We had 40 attendees who brought along their own drinks and we played three rounds of bingo!

We ate some delicious nachos from the Nacho Bar and there were awesome prizes won.
It was such a fun night and we raised $1,025 from tickets!
P.s. we made the cutest bingo cards if anyone would like to download and print some for themselves! Find them under Resources.
