The Aim of This Project:

Educate women on the symptoms of ovarian cancer and what to do if they have these symptoms

Advocate for research and government funding

Advocate for women to be heard, and action taken, when they have symptoms - development of a campaign based on see us, hear us, help us

Fundraise to support these other initiatives

All 19 clubs across Aotearoa New Zealand are encouraged to choose activities to achieve the aim of the National Project in whatever way they see fit!

PROGRESS REPORT 2022-2023
The first National Project Progress Report has been released.
Some of our club members played an integral part in putting together this report that highlights what clubs across the country have done in the first year of the National Project: Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

WHO THE PROJECT IS SUPPORTING:
The National Project Journey -
Back at the beginning of 2021, Rural Women NZ held a webinar on Ovarian Cancer as that was their National Project at the time.

A few Soroptimists watched the webinar and this sparked something!
​
A small group (the beginnings of our club) organised a Teal Ribbon Morning Tea & Quiz to raise money and awareness for Ovarian Cancer in May 2021.
​
From there it continued as a cause we wanted to help!
​
In May 2022, SI Wellington nominated it as a National Project, and this was voted in by the Soroptimists across Aotearoa New Zealand as the new project for 2022-2025.
