With the idea in place,
we pulled together treasured family recipes, personal baking stories, and a commitment to create something special.
Story Behind
the Book -
It all began with a vision - a vision to create something meaningful that would resonate with our Soroptimist International of Rangatahi Wellington community and beyond.

As we brainstormed ways to raise funds for our new club, we knew it had to be something special.
The beginning of our club saw us host our first event - our first Teal Ribbon Morning Tea & Quiz to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer. As we gathered, united in purpose, the connection forged over baked treats ignited something within us - the realisation that food has the ability to bring people together.
Baking holds a unique place in Soroptimism. It's more than just mixing ingredients; it's about connection, empowerment and spreading joy.
Our shared love for baking inspired the idea of crafting a baking recipe book - a collection that would not only celebrate the joy of baking but also contribute to the causes close to our hearts.

From gathering recipes to reading articles from the beginning of Soroptimist International, it was a
heartwarming journey on its own, as
we realised that each recipe held a story, a memory,
and a sprinkle of love.
Whisking
Together Ideas:
From Words to Pages:
After countless hours of reaching out to
members, finding old articles and stories, to
baking and pretending we were professional photographers, our book began to take shape.

The pages of "1921 - A Collection of Recipes, Memories & Stories" started to fill with more than just recipes - they were infused with the passion, determination, and stories of Soroptimism. Our aim was to create a book that would not only grace kitchen countertops but shared the spirit of Soroptimism.
Why 1921?
This book pays homage to the year 1921 when Soroptimist International was born, making the inception of a movement that has empowered women and communities for over a century. Just as the organisation's legacy has evolved, so have the recipes, memories, and stories within these pages, forming a bridge between the past and present, all while embracing the spirit of progress and empowerment that began 102 years ago.

Spreading Sweetness
At the heart of our baking journey is the desire to spread sweetness far beyond the pages of our book. That's why we decided we would donate 10% of all profits from "1921 - A Collection of Recipes, Memories, & Stories" to go to Good Bitches Baking.

This incredible charity shares our belief in the transformative power of baked goods to bring comfort and joy to those who need it most. We thought that this was the perfect place to donate a portion of our book proceeds.

Purchasing a copy of the book not only means you receive over 100 delicious recipes but also makes a meaningful impact on individuals and communities in need.
A Legacy of Empowerment and
History
"1921 - A Collection of Recipes, Memories, and Stories" isn't just a recipe book; it's a testament to the enduring legacy of Soroptimist International. With every order and page turned, you're not only contributing to Good Bitches Baking, but also supporting our club's future projects. Beyond that, this book encapsulates more than a century of history, as it lovingly preserves some articles from the early days of an organisation that has empowered women for over 100 years.
